Zoning affects us all. The Zoning Ordinance provides a list of allowable land uses, building placement, building heights, and other development standards. The City of Lakewood has sixteen different zone districts that include residential, non-residential, and mixed use.
The purpose of revisiting the City of Lakewood’s Zoning Ordinance is to develop land use regulations that implement the vision of the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan and its amendments. The regulations will serve as a tool for innovative and collaborative planning and design. The document will reflect growth trends, employ current planning practices, reduce bureaucracy, incorporate the community’s vision, facilitate community investment, and improve the administration of land use requirements in the City of Lakewood. These regulations will provide for development within the context of the neighborhood that is sustainable, resilient, and supported by the community.
