  • LAKEWOOD! Zoning Improvement is the process for improving the City’s zoning ordinance.

What is the purpose of revisiting the zoning ordinance?

  • Revisiting the zoning ordinance allows the City to respond to growth trends and new technologies, better facilitate community investment, and implement the vision of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

What is the process for improving the zoning ordinance?

  • A Community Advisory Group, comprised of graduates of the Citizens Planning Academy and representatives from the Planning Commission and City Council, has been created to act as ambassadors for the zoning improvement process. The Community Advisory Group meets regularly to provide City staff with guidance and recommendations.  A number of community events will be held to provide information to the public and seek feedback.  The City also will solicit comments through the website.

How long will the zoning improvement process take?

  • It is anticipated it will take 18 months to evaluate and revise the zoning ordinance.
